Tim McDonnell: Chair of Trustees

Tim built a successful career in the fast moving consumer goods, commercial retail world.

Working his way up through the ranks at Kwik Save supermarkets, from trainee manager to human resources (HR) and retail director before becoming a senior director of the Poundland chain of stores, holding the brief for retail, HR, integration and international growth.

Since semi-retirement in 2016 Tim has been an associate director of Tranmere Rovers, a Wirral Hospice Ambassador and Chair of Wirral Hospice St John’s Enterprises Ltd, the hospice’s charitable trading company (for the sale of Christmas cards and new goods). His knowledge of retail informs the strategic direction of our charity shop estate in Wirral

He joined the Wirral Hospice Board of Trustees in 2021 and became Chair of Trustees in November 2023.

When he gets the time he likes nothing better, in all weathers, of visiting his favourite spot on Anglesey, Red Wharf Bay, for long walks and relaxation.

Qualifications: Tim is a member of the Institute of Directors.
