Our Fundraising Promise

We are committed to raising funds for our charity in an open, honest and transparent way. Although we receive some NHS funding towards aspects of the care we provide to our patients and their loved ones, we are largely reliant on donations from our local community to support the running costs for Wirral Hospice St John’s.

We ask supporters to help us by making donations, joining in with events, organising your own events, playing our lottery, supporting our charity shops, amongst many of the ways people can and do get involved.

In return, we promise to:

Be honest about how your money supports our charity and be clear about why we need your help

Publicly promote your donations/activities if you wish that to be the case

Show our appreciation promptly and appropriately if you are in a position to support us

Respect your decision and not make you feel guilty if you aren’t in a position to help us

Only contact you in ways that you are happy with us doing so (you can call us on 0151 343 0778 or email fundraising@wirralhospice.org at any time to update your Communications Preferences)

Protect your information – we do not and will not ever sell or share your data to any other charities or organisations

We are respectful

We understand that our Hospice, although homely, can be an unsettling environment for people new to it, and for those affected by the loss of a loved one who might find it difficult coming back to visit

We never seek to take advantage of bereaved families but are there to support them if they do wish to remember a loved one by fundraising for us

We are sensitive when engaging with vulnerable people and we do not encourage or seek support if a vulnerable member of our community is identified

Staff and volunteers at the Hospice have received relevant training, including Dementia Friends training to help understand how to recognise and support people who may have Dementia or Alzheimer’s

We are accountable

We will do all we can to ensure our staff and volunteers comply with fundraising and other regulatory bodies’ legislation and best practice, including The Fundraising RegulatorInstitute of FundraisingCharity Commission and the Gambling Commission

Our staff and volunteers receive training and attend courses, and have regular support and supervision meetings with line managers

We try to make it easy for you to contact us and help with any queries or suggestions you may have

We will act quickly and appropriately if you are not happy with any aspect of our fundraising activities – concerns and complaints are taken very seriously and our policy reflects this
