Dr Hilary Leggat: Trustee
A Scot by birth, Hilary trained at St Andrew’s and Manchester universities qualifying in 1981.
After general medical training she completed higher specialist training in Haematology and worked in the North East for a number of years.
She moved to the Wirral in 1992 with her husband and their then, two young children.
Hilary was a Consultant Haematologist at the Countess of Chester hospital until retiring in 2017. Throughout her career as a Haematologist Hilary was actively involved in managing patients requiring palliative care and developed an interest in the work of hospices.
Hilary became a trustee at Wirral Hospice St John’s in 2018 and is now chair of the clinical governance committee. In these roles she helps the hospice with its strategic aim to be recognised as a worthy, effective, efficient and thriving organisation in our Wirral community.
Hilary is actively involved in Wirral life, enjoying a number of pursuits including cycling, golf, tennis, sailing and bridge. She supports a variety of events and fundraisers associated with these and the many other community activities
