Safeguarding

Wirral Hospice St John’s has a responsibility to ensure that all children / young people and adults connected to the organisation are adequately safeguarded and that “Safeguarding is Everyone’s Business”.

All hospice staff and volunteers are recruited through safer recruitment processes and are required to complete safeguarding training at the required level for their role.

Staff and volunteers are required to adhere to national and local safeguarding policies / procedures and to act upon any concerns in accordance with them.

Our safeguarding approach aims to promote wellbeing and safety, prevent harm and facilitate effective responses to concerns raised about abuse and neglect.

Adhering to the principles that:

All adults have a right to:

  • Live free from violence, fear and abuse
  • Be protected from harm and exploitation
  • Independence, which involves a degree of risk

All children have a right to the five Every Child Matters outcomes:

  • Stay safe
  • Be healthy
  • Enjoy and achieve
  • Make a positive contribution
  • Achieve economic wellbeing
