Meet Barbara

Barbara is a health care assistant within our Hospice at Home team and has been working at our hospice for 11 years. She has also spent some time working on our inpatient ward.

Barbara shared with us what a normal day looks like for her:

There is the morning handover from the Nurse in Charge, then looking at patients who will be visited on that day and planning the journey to their homes.

Barbara then spends the morning with a patient in their own home, often enabling a family member to take a short break. She then visits another patient for the afternoon, helping their family to also take a short break.

“One of the best parts of the job is visiting so many different homes around the Wirral, being welcomed to those homes, and feeling that our support is of benefit to each and every family that we meet. It can be a big responsibility looking after the patient and their home for that three hour period.”
