Meet Ryan

Hospice Nurse, Ryan is our deputy community services manager and wellbeing centre team leader. Ryan let us know why he is a hospice nurse:

“I have worked in several different, clinically oriented nursing roles from orthopedics to acute palliative care with a measure of oncology, and district nursing which encompasses many specialties. Clinical work is interesting and varied, but the best part of the job, for me, has always been patient contact.

My latest role has me focusing more on holistic, multidisciplinary nursing, helping people to mentally process and practically manage life with a life limiting illness. This is also a wide-ranging job that can be challenging and joyful in equal measure.

We can move from profound conversations about practical and spiritual aspects of planning for end of life, to debating the relative merits of rival biscuits, sometimes in the same session.

People are great…”
