Ron Barber: Gardening Volunteer

In the year of the hospice’s 40th anniversary, gardening volunteer, Ron Barber, is coming up to ten years at the hospice and FIFTY years married.

Agnes Hetherington: Hospice and Shops Volunteer

Following in her father’s footsteps, Agnes Hetherington is a double volunteer.

She now volunteers both at the hospice and in our charity shops.

Peter Lageard: Hospice Volunteer

Peter has volunteered at Wirral Hospice St John’s since 2017.

In 2022 he completed the Liverpool- Chester- Liverpool cycle ride to raise funds for the hospice.

Kath Kenyon: Hospice Volunteer

Kath Kenyon is a delightful lady. The perfect volunteer.

Helpful, committed, thoughtful, kind and, fantastic for us, she’s been helping at Wirral Hospice St John’s since June 1983! That is, day one!

Trish Smith Hospice Volunteer

Retired nurse and Wirral Hospice St John’s main reception volunteer, Trish, often completes walking challenges to raise funds for the hospice.

She’s volunteered on main reception for around six years now and, like many volunteers, she has a personal reason for what she calls ‘giving a little back’.

Ann Dermody: Charity Shop Volunteer

When you meet somebody who has been volunteering in our charity shops for over 25 years, it goes without saying; they have made an immense contribution.

One such person, Ann Dermody, Irish Ann as she’s known locally, is having none of it, “I feel I’ve gotten more out of volunteering for the hospice than I’ve ever given back.”
