Aim of Course: To enable staff to support patients to think about what they want to happen regarding their future care and treatment

Course Content: At the end of the session you will be able to,
- Illustrate the importance of, and implications of not, planning for the future
- Describe a variety of ways of making future wishes and preferences known
- Demonstrate understanding of the principles and application of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Contrast the differences in planning for those with and without capacity
- Recognise that Future Care Planning includes both Advance Care Planning and Anticipatory Clinical Management Planning
- Understand the process & reasons for ‘Best Interests’ decision making
