In-house end of life care training for care homes
Aim of Course:
This course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of end of life care. By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Understand the key terminology used in end of life care.
- Recognize the signs that indicate someone is approaching the end of life.
- Understand the colour coding system and how it relates to disease progression.
- Identify their role and responsibilities in delivering end of life care.
- Understand the priorities of care during the final stages of life.
- Become familiar with the essential documentation used in end of life care.
- Be aware of the various services available to support end of life care and how to access them.

Please Note: Attendance is limited to staff employed by a Wirral based Care Home.

Course Content:
A brief summary of end of life care within care homes. Supporting staff to recognise when residents are approaching the last twelve months of life and to support them to use advance care planning documents to facilitate a good death and avoid unnecessary hospital admissions.
