Corporate volunteering terms & conditions and FAQ’s

Wirral Hospice St John’s provides FREE specialist care across our whole Wirral community for adult patients with life-limiting illnesses. We also support families, carers and loved ones during their journey.

Corporate volunteering offers businesses a powerful opportunity to give back, supporting those who need it most. By volunteering with us, your team can contribute time, skills, and care in a way that makes a real difference. Not only does it enable businesses to align their environmental, social and governance practices, but it also provides workplace benefits to individuals, including staff engagement and increased morale.

Please make sure you read any relevant information before you begin volunteering with us.

If you have any questions regarding any aspect of health, safety and welfare at Wirral Hospice St John’s, please refer to your Fundraising Team Lead, who organised your attendance at the hospice, the hospice Support Services Manager, Facilities Team Leader, Volunteer Services Manager or any other member of staff. Corporate Volunteering Frequently Asked Questions

Corporate volunteering at Wirral Hospice St John’s.
Corporate volunteering at our hospice involves employees from a business donating their time, skills, and energy to support the hospice’s mission through various ways including hospice maintenance, event support, retail support or agreed offsite activities.

How long is a typical volunteering session?
For hospice maintenance, the day normally runs from 10.00am – 3.30pm. This can be tailored to suit your needs. Offsite support will differ depending on activity and needs.

How many people can we bring?
For hospice maintenance, we require a minimum of 4 volunteers and a maximum of 16 volunteers per session. Smaller numbers can be accommodated with offsite activities.

How old do our volunteers need to be?
All onsite corporate volunteers must be a minimum of 16 years old

Do we need any special training for our corporate day?
No formal training is required—just a willingness to help and respect the sensitive nature of hospice work.

Will there be someone to support us on the day?
Yes. A hospice staff supervisor will be on-site to welcome your team, provide an orientation, and guide the day’s activities.

Can we make a donation in addition to volunteering?
Absolutely. While not required, we would very much appreciate any financial support alongside your volunteering.

Can our team share photos or experiences on social media?
Yes! We just ask that you do not photograph patients or family members. Please speak to our fundraising team if you have any questions.

Will our volunteering be recognised or acknowledged?
Yes! We value our corporate volunteers and are happy to provide a thank you letter or certificate, and social media shout-outs.

What do we wear?
We recommend wearing comfortable, casual clothing that is appropriate for a professional, sensitive environment.

You will be provided with any required PPE.

Will food and drink be provided?
Light refreshment such as tea/coffee, water and biscuits will be available, but teams must bring their own food or make provisions to eat. We have an on-site café where you can buy food.

What if we can no longer support?
Please inform your hospice contact with as much notice as possible. Planning and preparation take time, and we have lots of requests for support. Notice may enable another company to support us.

We had a great time and would like to continue our partnership. What do we do next?
Please get in touch with our Partnerships and Community Fundraising Manager, Jo, to look at developing a formal partnership. events@wirralhospice.org 0151 343 0778
