GDPR: Fundraising Supporters

Wirral Hospice St John’s takes Data Protection and Confidentiality and its requirements under the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) extremely seriously.

– We DO NOT pass on or sell your details to any other organisation
– We DO NOT store bank card or credit card security codes
– We DO NOT profile supporters by wealth screening
– We DO NOT store any data about you that is not relevant to us or appropriate

SMS usage
– We will use SMS text messaging alerts for our Christmas tree collection.
– We will use Mailchimp’s SMS function to send these alert messages.
– The alerts will be to remind people who have pre-booked their trees to leave their tree out ready to be picked up, as an appointment reminder.
– Mobile phone numbers are collected at the point of supporters booking their trees. Mobile numbers are stored on our database system (Donorflex) for when we need to call supporters for admin reasons.

SMS Marketing
At this time (15.01.2026), we do not plan to use SMS messaging for marketing purposes.

Should this position change then we would develop a SMS marketing policy, and communicate this appropriately with supporters.

Communication preferences for other types of fundraising communication
If you are an existing supporter of any of our fundraising activities, should you wish to you can update your communications preferences online or call 0151 343 0778 to speak with a member of our fundraising dept.

New supporters will be given a range of communications preferences options to opt into or not at the point of making their first donation to our charity.

We use the following fundraising databases for fundraising supporter data: Donorflex & Cybertill.

• Donations (gifts in Wills, one off or regular gifts, in-memory donations, Gift Aid, charitable trusts)
• Events, community fundraising & companies
• Lottery (weekly memberships, single tickets, wedding favours)
• Retail (charity shops, online shop, eBay)
• Donating a gift in kind
