Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists focus on helping people to do meaningful and essential activities in daily life. They look at the relationship between the activities you do every day – your occupations – alongside the challenges you face and your environment.

Our occupational therapists (OTs), supported by our therapy assistant, work with people in our inpatient unit and wellbeing centre, and facilitate a combination of face-to-face, group, and telephone therapy sessions.

They may visit people’s home environments to discuss equipment and adaptations which may be necessary to support independence and maintain safety.

They are also able to advise and support with the following:

  • Assessment for and provision of walking aids, living aids, and specialist equipment.
  • Assessment and referral for wheelchairs.
  • Personal care.
  • Domestic tasks.
  • Leisure activities.
  • Managing stairs.
  • Fatigue and anxiety management strategies.
  • Falls prevention.
