Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy helps to restore, maintain and slow down the deterioration of movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability.
Working with people on the inpatient unit and in our wellbeing centre, our hospice physiotherapist and therapy assistant will facilitate a combination of face-to-face, telephone, and online therapy sessions in either a one-to-one or group setting.
To enable people, as far as possible, to participate in the things they value the most, the physio team helps with:
- Mobility issues to optimise independence or adapt to new levels of functioning.
- Advice for the management of pain and breathlessness.
- Practical support for managing debilitating symptoms.
- Chair exercises.
- Acupuncture / acupressure.
- Personalised exercise programmes.
- Assessment for and provision of walking aids and mobility equipment.
- Falls prevention.
The physio team run a strength and balance exercise group, and with the support of a trained volunteer a tai chi group.
