They GLOWED and they FLOWED for the hospice

Excitement was in the air as over 200 people gathered in bright costume and illuminous accessories to take part in the revitalised hospice twilight walk, Glow with the Flow.

Yes, on Friday 12th September, Ian and friends from Radio Clatterbridge were DJ’ing the upbeat hits as people arrived at Hoylake Community Centre from around an hour before the walk was due to begin at 7pm.

There was also an opportunity to get an energy boost from the burgers and tortilla chips provided by the Rapid Relief Team, a charity which provides free food services to good causes when putting on special events.

Fabulous face paints were expertly applied by Lauren, adding a glittery glow to the occasion, and this definitely wasn’t just for the children!

Hospice mascot, John Bear, dressed up for the occasion, receiving cheers as he danced through the crowd to join Gabby who led everybody in an adrenalin pumping warm up.

Reach for the Stars everybody.” Gabby called out as she showed everyone how to do the grapevine dance moves to S Club 7.

The walkers, now raring to go, were set off by John Bear and so began their 5K walk.

Anti-clockwise along Hoylake promenade, passing The King’s Gap and around to Market Street and then past St John’s church before looping back to the waterfront, after the Railway pub, to complete their circuit.

Volunteer marshals appeared on each corner to guide people on their merry way, and a great time was had by all.

There was a lively breeze that did not for one minute deter our hardy walkers. You could say, it blowed and they glowed when they flowed.

And, on top of all that fun, more than £7,000 was raised for our cherished hospice! Magnificent!

Many, many, grateful thanks to every single one of you bright and fabulous people.
