Just the 141,500 metres! Pat Harrow’s swim/walk challenge in memory of her daughter Becky

Here (pictured above and left) are our good friends, Pat Harrow and son-in-law, Mike Hall, who recently met with some of our fundraising team and nurse, Chelsea.

Pat took on a swimming and walking challenge in memory of her daughter, Becky Hall, to mark Becky’s 50th birthday and to raise funds for Wirral Hospice St John’s.

Pat, who turns 75 herself this autumn, explained how, over the previous months, she’d swam 1500 lengths of the 25 metre pool at Total Fitness in Prenton and walked (at least) 5km, twenty eight times!

“We miss Becky so dearly. I wanted to help keep her light shining by raising funds for the hospice where she was so cared for and supported in 2021. August 28th would have been her fiftieth birthday so I set twenty-eight walks of 5 kilometres as my first goal and 1500 lengths, in chunks of fifty lengths at a time, as my second goal. I have to say thanks to my friends Hayley and Debbie for getting me through the swims.”

The whole family have supported the hospice since Becky sadly passed away. Mike and sons, Josh, Harry and Freddie, Pat’s beloved grandsons, switched on the lights for our annual Light up a Life commemorations in 2022. In that year they’d held a party in Becky’s honour and also donated her memorial funds, raising more than £16,000 in total for the hospice.

Now Pat has added a further £1,500 to those donations in Becky’s memory and the hospice could not be more grateful.

Thank you so much Pat and Mike and all your fantastic family and friends. You know Becky would be so delighted with your strong support and all your love.
