Thank You to our Wirral Coastal Walkers
Published on: 05/05/2022
On Sunday 22nd May, following a gap of two years, our Wirral community’s much loved and strongly supported Wirral Coastal Walk was back. Hooray!
This year the 12.5 mile walk, starting at the Floral Pavilion, then meandering around the northwest coast of Wirral and finishing, as always in recent years, at Thurstaston, was attended by some 2,000 people walking for themselves or their favourite charity.
Down the years, since 1986, many thousands of people have completed the walk and a fair proportion of those have chosen Wirral Hospice St John’s to support.
Organisers, the Rotary Club of North Wirral, assisted by many charitable organisations including members of other Rotary Clubs on the Wirral and “Friends of Rotary“, did a magnificent job of registering, marshalling and encouraging the walkers all the way around.
It was quite a blowy and mainly overcast day (and fair to say a little chilly along the beach from Hoylake to West Kirby) but the walkers carried on regardless and in really good spirits.
People have great fun on the walk with friends and family and we’d encourage you to definitely pencil in a space for it in your calendar in 2023.
Congratulations to all the 2022 participants and, of course, an extra special massive THANK YOU to everyone who walked for Wirral Hospice St John’s (some nice pictures below).
