Trekking the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu

Walking in the footsteps of the Incas gave Wirral Hospice supporter Ann Scriven the inspiration to raise £885. Ann Spent 4 days trekking the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru following intensive training.
To prepare herself for the challenge, she spent 6 months improving her fitness levels so she could be confident in herself in completing 26 miles. As well as rough terrain, she also had to contend with little matters such as altitude sickness.
Ann, who was fundraising in support of the Lady Captain’s Charity at Eastham Golf Club, said it was an amazing experience! “After the long treks each day, the porters went ahead to set up camp where we received a hot meal. Not having to wash up after a long hard day was great!”
“Reaching the amazing ruins of Machu Picchu was fantastic and truly a once in a lifetime experience! I raised £885 in sponsorship in aid of Wirral Hospice St John’s, which will go towards caring for future patients and their families”.
