Funeral donations

If you would like to request donations in lieu of flowers to Wirral Hospice at the funeral of your loved one, thank you for thinking of us at this time. Please see below how we can help:

Tribute fund – A tribute fund is a free, permanent web page set up in memory of a loved one and is a wonderful way to honour the life of someone special. It is a great thing to share with your family and friends, and anyone can contribute to it. It takes just a few minutes to set up a tribute fund. Once it has been created, you can share it with family and friends, upload photos and videos and share thoughts and memories. You can set up a tribute fund online here.

Alternatively, if you would like us to set a tribute fund up for you, please call 0151 343 0778 or email fundraising@wirralhospice.org with your name and address, along with your loved one’s full name and a photo of them for their page. The page also has a QR code that can be printed on the order of service. Please contact us if you would like us to send you one for your loved one’s page.

Online funeral notice – an online funeral notice is a tribute fund with added details about the funeral, it is also free and can collect donations and share the details of your loved one’s service with family and friends. Like a tribute page, family and friends can also share photos and memories and donate to the online funeral notice. It only takes a few moments to set up an online funeral notice. You can set up a funeral notice online here.

Personalised collecting bucket – we can create a personalised collecting bucket for you for your loved one’s funeral, just call 0151 343 0778 or email fundraising@wirralhospice.org.

Donation envelopes – We have in memory envelopes that enable us to claim an additional 25% gift aid on each eligible donation in memory of your loved one. These donations also allow us to thank everyone who makes a donation personally.  Contact the fundraising team on 0151 343 0778 or email fundraising@wirralhospice.org. Alternatively, you can ask your funeral director.

Advice for family and friends

We know that sometimes family and friends are unable to make a funeral, or wish to donate after the funeral. Below is some information on other ways to donate for family and friends.

Donating by cheque – cheques can be made payable to Wirral Hospice St John’s, and any passed to your funeral directors will be forwarded within six weeks to Wirral Hospice St John’s. Cheques can also be posted along with a note containing the name of your loved one, along with the name and address of the person donating to: Fundraising Office, Wirral Hospice St John’s, Mount Road, Higher Bebington, Wirral CH63 6JE.

Donating by credit or debit card – donations can be made by credit or debit card over the phone by calling our fundraising office on 0151 343 0778, Monday-Friday 9-5

Donating online – we can also take in memory donations online via our online donations page

What to do with donations after a funeral

Following a funeral, funeral directors may collect any donations received and forward them to our hospice within six weeks. However, some funeral directors ask the family to collect the donations to forward on to the hospice themselves. There are a few ways you can pass in donations from a funeral to the hospice:

Cash – You can bring cash into our fundraising office, Monday – Friday, 9-5

Cheques – You can also bring cheques into our fundraising office, Monday – Friday 9-5, or post cheques along with a letter with your name and address and the name of your loved one to: Fundraising Office, Wirral Hospice St John’s, Mount Road, Higher Bebington, Wirral CH63 6JE

Online – If you prefer, and it is easier, you can pay donations in online using our online donation page

Donations from tribute funds and online funeral notices – donations from these pages are automatically sent to the hospice, so you don’t need to worry about passing these on.

If you have any questions or need some advice on funeral donations, please call 0151 343 0778 or email fundraising@wirralhospice.org
