CCTV recording & monitoring at Wirral Hospice
When you visit Wirral Hospice or one of our shops, your image may be recorded on CCTV (Closed Circuit Television).
In order to protect our patients, families, visitors, employees, volunteers, supporters, contractors, premises and assets from crime, we operate a CCTV system at the hospice which records images internally and externally for the security and safety of all.
We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest and to enable us to protect the individuals with whom we interact. Images are monitored, recorded and stored centrally in strict accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018. The hospice’s use of CCTV / video surveillance (incl. dashcams) at the hospice, its charity shops and in its vehicles is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Signage will be displayed where this takes place.
We also use CCTV to prevent fraudulent activity. We will use CCTV recording where it is required as evidence for internal investigations; for the prevention and detection of crime and for other requirements, if permitted by local law. We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest. Our aim is to protect those we care for and any individuals we interact with from the effects of criminal activities. If we discover any criminal activity or alleged criminal activity through our use of CCTV, we will process this data for the purposes of preventing or detecting unlawful acts.
We hold CCTV images for up to 30 days (unless there is a specific evidential or operational reason for retaining these for a longer period from the date of recording).
Requests for access to images can be made by downloading the CCTV / Video Surveillance Data Access Application Form or by contacting the hospice’s Data Controller on 0151 334 2778 / info@wirralhospice.org
