“I’m not sure I’m cut-out for this.”

Wirral Hospice St John’s esteemed palliative care consultant, Dr Richard Latten’s, preparation for the 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon, to raise funds for your local adult hospice, is continuing apace.

You may have already seen him, from time-to-time, running around some of Wirral’s most famous, and some not-so-famous, landmarks, preparing hard for the gruelling 26-miler which is taking place once again on Sunday 3rd October, 2021.

And now you may see a little more of him as three life-sized replicas of Dr Richard in his running gear have arrived to promote his effort.

One of the doppelgangers will welcome visitors at the main entrance of the hospice for the next couple of months while the other two will be circulated around Wirral Hospice St John’s charity shops to remind hospice supporters of Richard’s challenge.

Look out for him/them around the peninsula between now and October and please give the real Dr Richard a sporting cheer (and a kind donation if you can).

We asked Richard about his progress,

“The training, with a couple of minor knocks and twinges, is going quite well. It’s all for the hospice so I’m going to finish even if I have to walk half of the way! I’ve signed up for a half marathon in September as a warm up and my colleagues, friends and family have all been so supportive. Many thanks to everyone who has already made a kind donation and I’m so grateful to anyone who decides to make one as the time gets nearer.”

He’s a busy man but everyone who meets him, through work or otherwise, will bear witness to one of life’s genuinely ‘good guys.’
