Welcome to Patient and Family Support Services
Wirral Hospice St John’s recognises that our patients and those close to them have many and varied needs.
All of our care is meticulously planned and provided by our specialist health and social care professionals on an individual basis.
We provide the following support services:
- Social work
- Occupational therapy
- Chaplaincy & spiritual care
- Services of Remembrance
- Bereavement Support
Often family members, friends and other carers also need advice and guidance. There are a number of services available for such support.
Family and Friends Support Group:
The Group is open to people who care about a patient in any of our Outpatients, Wellbeing Centre, Inpatients Ward or Hospice at Home.
There are regular meetings to share strategies and discuss the experience of caring for a person with a life-limiting illness.
Sessions are facilitated by hospice professionals.
Grief is often an individual experience. People feel it and express it in many different ways. There is no ‘right’ way.
Wirral Hospice St John’s bereavement professionals are on hand to support family members, and other carers, of someone who has passed away.
Sometimes a series of individual and/or group sessions can help. Maybe telephone support is appropriate and, for some people, participation in memorial services and events is of great benefit.
Again we will, as far as possible tailor support to people experiencing the loss of a loved one.
Guidance following a bereavement:
Wirral Hospice St John’s will provide guidance to family members and loved ones about the agencies to contact following the passing of a family member.
