Happy Birthday to You: Our Bromborough charity shop is one year old

Staff, volunteers and customers joined in the celebration of our Bromborough shop’s first birthday this week and popped in to enjoy a selection of delicious cakes, sausage rolls, sweets, tea and coffee into the bargain (even more than the normal amount they share every week!)

With lots of regular customers (as well as welcome new ones) the word went out in the week before that there’d be a nice celebration and the local community responded, as it has done all year, by turning up to support shop manager, Suzi Stockell, and her team of dedicated volunteers.

It’s been a really good year for the Bromborough shop. Suzi really engages with the local community and those good people have continued to donate wonderful pre-loved goods and also kept shopping there for some really fantastic items.

There are now twenty seven committed volunteers working alongside Suzi that they’re often there giving extra hours as they love it so much and the contribution they make to their local adult hospice. They’re constantly on the go, sorting stock, merchandising, window dressing, and most importantly, providing our high quality, friendly customer service.

If you’re in the neighbourhood you should try our Bromborough shop at Allport Road. There’s an instant buzz as you enter and lots of things to buy. From larger furniture items, through gents and ladies clothing and accessories, to ornaments and bric-brac. The shop is open Monday to Saturday 9am-5pm.

Reflecting upon the last year Suzi said,

“The response we have had from our fantastic community has been amazing and we are so thankful for their continued support despite the hard times many are facing. We’re so grateful to everyone who has kindly donated their pre-loved items or bought from our busy shop. Of course, there’s also a special mention for our volunteers who make such a difference. Their contribution is vital in raising the necessary funds needed for our hospice’s specialised care and support”.
