QCF Level 3 Award in Awareness of End of Life Care 3571-03 with Dementia Module

The Award

This Award will be of particular interest to Health Care Assistants and Support workers caring for people at end of life including those working in Care Homes, Hospitals, Hospices or in the Community. Also agency staff working in Continuing Care.

Assessment

These units will be assessed through the completion of written assessments and a portfolio. Some reading and research will need to be undertaken. Course materials and workbooks will be provided.

The Level 3 Award is a knowledge based 10 credit qualification of three mandatory units. There are no pre-requisite qualifications needed to access it.

The units are:

  1. Understand how to work in end of life care
  2. Principles of working in end of life care
  3. Understand how to support individuals during last days of life

Facilitators

These will be specialist staff who are working closely with patients and families in end of life care. They will introduce the subjects using participative methods, ensuring that there will be opportunities for individual reflection and the sharing of ideas.
