Welcome to the fundraising part of our website

The demands on our Hospice service continue to grow – this year the cost of running the Hospice will be £3.1 million pounds for the year, £258 thousand per month and £8490 for 24 hours of care.

The majority of this we have to raise from local voluntary sources. Please read on to see how you can get involved – every £ counts and we can only continue to provide our special care with your help.

There are many ways you can help:

  • Make a donation using the link below to the Just Giving Website
  • Send a donation direct to the Hospice at the above address making cheques payable to Wirral Hospice St John's or telephone the Fundraising Office on 0151 343 0778 and make a donation by debit/credit card.

Be a Regular Giver

We are pleased to receive all donations and wonder if you would consider making a regular donation each month to help Wirral Hospice provide care for our patients.

All our care is provided free to our patients and families.

Giving just a small amount each month adds up to a big amount for the hospice. If you are a tax payer then an additional 20% is donated by the government through the Gift Aid scheme.

£4 a month and £1 gift aid from the government makes an annual donation of £60 which pays for 3 hours of specialist nursing care and makes all the difference to our patients and families.

You can make a regular monthly donation through Just Giving and stop it at any time you wish.

Donations In Memory of Someone Special

Donations

We have a hospice here on the Wirral to care for today’s patient’s thanks in part to donations made in memory of past patients.

Families and friends often ask how they can support the hospice at the funeral or memorial service of a loved one and there are a number of ways this can be done.

You can ask for donations in lieu of flowers. We have special envelopes which if completed by the donor, if the donor is a tax payer, allow us to claim back the Gift Aid. This makes a £10 donation in to £12.

The funeral director will organise this for you or you can collect the envelopes from the fundraising office.

Some times people also wish the congregation to wear a symbol of the hospice and we have Star Pins and Sunflowers available.

With less people carrying cash and cheque books another way to collect donations is to set up a Just Giving Tribute Page.

This is easy to do and allows donors to leave a comment if they wish. This can be of great comfort to families.

Just Giving collect any Gift Aid on our behalf.

We write to the next of kin to acknowledge all donations and the total amount raised. We provide a list of who has donated but not the amount individually donated. This is also of comfort to families to know who is thinking of them.

If you have any questions please call the fundraising office on 343 0778.

Thank you for thinking of others during your own sad time.

Calling all those nostalgic for the past…

Hospice employee and author Irene Kelly is now researching for her second book.

Her first book – Tea in a Jam Jar, Birkenhead through the 1860's to 1959 has been a great success and has raised over £400 for the hospice.

Irene is looking for the memories of others from 1930 to 1960. If you have a story to tell but think you can't write it down Irene will do this for you. Contact Irene on 0151 608 0347 or via email

Who knows - your story could be a part of the next book to raise money for the hospice.

To buy a copy of Tea in a Jam Jar please send a cheque for £7.50 to the fundraising office and let us know where to post your book to.
